39 steps: the architectural space of staircases in Hitchcock's films is a research paper written by author María Novela de Aragón that has been published in the 6th volume of Iniciaçiao, a Brazilian magazine, on architecture and design.

This paper analyzes and catalogs the different kinds of staircases used by Alfred Hitchcock in his filmography. It also studies the space generated by the different types of stairs create, and the way in which the filmmaker uses that space to achieve a certain effect or another.
